BackgroundFrom a 1980 Kenner Toy Fair catalog:Outstanding reproductions made of Die-cast metal and High Impact Plastic with moving parts. The new TIE BOMBER has removable solar panels that simulate battle damage. The Tie Bomber is the most ellusive of all the die cast vehicles. It was released only as a test run in Ohio and possibly surrounding states and packed in a window box. Only about 10,000 were ever made before the die-cast line ended. This die cast version is the only vintage incarnation of the Tie Bomber for the vintage line.
