BackgroundFrom a 1980 Kenner Toy Fair catalog:Outstanding reproductions made of Die-cast metal and High Impact Plastic with moving parts. TIE FIGHTER has Solar Panels that come off to simulate "Battle Damage" and clear plastic cockpit window. The Tie Fighter came out in the first release of die-cast ships and was packed on a blister card. Both wings came off, similar to the large Tie version. The back of the cockpit also came out revealing a pilot. These ships are tough to find in good condition. The wings and cockpit were just press-fit into place and over time with usage they become very loose, making it difficult to keep this ship together.
